As Gen Z-favoured platforms like TikTok are on the rise, it can seem like the younger generations are dominating the social media space - but now an older age group is giving them a run for their money.

Experts have warned that the younger influencer market now appears 'oversaturated' as many teens and young people in their 20s and 30s seek to make names for themselves online.

Instead, the 'granfluencer' has risen in popularity as people aged 55 and over are winning over audiences on social media.

These foot-tapping, knee-jerking baby boomers are stripping away the stigma of ageing as they bop along to tunes on TikTok and offer pearls of wisdom they have learnt about life.

Popular TikTok grandparents include Grandad Frank and Grandad Joe, who have 7.4 million and 6.8 million followers apiece.

The famous elders share hilarious skit videos of their experience as grandparents and are popular for their wholesome content - on a platform that is often criticised for being 'shallow' and 'fake'.

Meanwhile Ann Russell is popular for her 'how-to videos', gaining recognition for teaching her younger followers essential skills, such as cleaning and household chores.

Others have proven popular by defying what is expected of those in their 50s, 60s, and 70s as they address taboo topics and embrace the wonders of getting older.

FEMAIL spoke to three such 'Granfluencers': Sex expert Suzanne, body language expert Adrianne and model Silvina - all of whom have large followings online.

At 62, Suzanne Noble is the host of Sex Advice for Seniors on TikTok, which is home to 56k followers and 227k likes.

After getting divorced 23 years ago and having two sons, link palsu Suzanne, who lives in London, has embraced online dating and is open about her sexually active lifestyle.

She was introduced to TikTok by son Josh, 32, who is a social media marketing manager.

Suzanne has now been posting on TikTok for two years, including videos such as 'How to spot if a man watches too much porn', which has racked up nearly two million views.

'Personally I want to carry on having sex. And why shouldn't I?' she told FEMAIL.

'I was nervous about putting myself out there and talking about my sex life - but my son Josh said, 'It's total no brainer mum, you're an older woman, you've got purple hair and you're going to talk about sex. You've got to go on TikTok'!
